EMG specialty clinic (electrophysiology laboratory)
Electromyography (EMG) examines muscles and electroneurography (ENG) examines nerves.
Electromyography (EMG) examines the diseases of the muscles. During EMG, a thin needle is inserted into the muscle with which the spontaneous activity of the muscles and the activity during the movement of the muscles can be measured. EMG can help detect myositis. The examination is unpleasant due to the needle and also hurts. Myasthenia gravis (abnormal muscle fatigue) can be examined by a repetitive muscle stimulus examination.
Electroneurography (ENG) examines nerve conduction parameters. ENG can be used to diagnose multiple nerve disorders, neuritis, and nerve radical damage caused by herniated disc. The examination is painless, although some patients fell uncomfortable with the electrical stimuli that stimulate the nerve.
