Vascular Surgery
At our specialist outpatient clinic patients with constriction of the arteries are examined and provided continuing care if needed. We regularly follow patients after surgery.
In the case of carotid artery stenosis if the narrowing needs artery surgery, our hospital can offer all-round examination and the surgery is performed at the vascular surgery unit of our surgery department. We also perform reconstructive surgery for pathological dilation or serious narrowing of the abdominal aorta, pelvic and peripheral arteries. It is also possible to manage stenosis of short sections by balloon dilatation with stenting in co-operation with the Radiology Department.
Our department has introduced the so called hybrid surgeries, i.e reconstruction of multisectorial vessel problems by vascular surgery with simultaneous X-ray controlled vasodilation.
We examine patients with varicose veins; sclerotherapy of spider veins (elimination of spider veins by injections). Patients with varicose veins, whose problem cannot be treated by injections are usually managed in one-day surgery. Treatment and wound dressing of lower leg ulcerations due to varicosity is also an area of specialization at our department. Laser surgery for patients with varicose veins is not offered yet but is to be introduced in the future.
