The provisions of the Health Act of 1997 lay down that all removed tissues and organs shall undergo histological examination. During the histopathological examination these organs and tissues are processed and prepared to be suitable for microscopic examination. During the microscopic examination the pathologist observes the prepared histology slides to give a diagnosis. Apart from traditional methods there are nearly 140 different antibodies available for immunohistochemical examinations, which not only give an accurate diagnosis but can also help determine the specific characteristic features of malignancies that have an impact on treatment.
