Inpatient and outpatient care are not completely separated on the organizational level. High-quality medical activities and the supporting environment are regulated in accordance with ISO 9001. Besides the provision of professional care, our medical staff also aims at compassionate healing and treatment. The main task of the Neurology Division and its specialist practices is to provide acute and chronic neurological care for the residents of Hajdú-Bihar County. The following cases currently serve as exceptions: acute stroke patients potentially prone to thrombolysis, infant or child patients requiring hospitalization. There is a possibility to provide care for neurological patients arriving from any part of the country, to investigate their illness, and provide a medical opinion. The examination of patients living outside the area defined by our regional obligations can be requested by a GP, a specialist doctor, another institution or the patients themselves. Generally, in cases when the patients’ condition does not require immediate care, examinations are conducted within the framework of outpatient care (to save time and costs for patients). In non-urgent cases, we consider the patients’ preferences and schedule in discussing appointments as much as possible. In complicated or problematic cases, we also contact and consult specialists of other institutions.
We collaborate with the Neurology Clinic of the University of Debrecen in the education of medical students, specialists, and in further training. We also play a role in the education of medical assistants and physiotherapists. We also provide individual training in the fields of epilepsy and EEG.
We have participated in several international and national drug trials. The planning and execution of these trials are in accordance with the strictest professional and ethical principles (GCP, Good Clinical Practice). Trials at the division are conducted by physicians with GCP qualifications. The work we perform has received international acclaim. If patients with epilepsy, Parkinson’s disease, migraine, sclerosis multiplex, dementia, and stroke do not respond to usual treatment, these trials provide a possibility to try new, promising therapies.
