Units and departments - Neurology Clinic

General Ward
  • Patients with neurological diseases other than stroke are admitted to this ward. The most frequently treated diseases are multiple sclerosis, multiple nerve pain, epilepsy, dizziness, head-ache, Parkinson’s disease, and diseases of the spine.

Stroke Unit

  • Patients with cerebrovascular diseases or stroke are admitted to this unit to identify the cause of their disease or to treat the already existing diseases. Our unit also cares for patients with fairly mild as well as with rather severe symptoms.

Stroke Unit with regularly scheduled treatments

  • Our unit provides opportunities for patients to be given infusion therapy in milder or chronic cerebral disorders. The patients treated remain in the unit only for the time of the infusion and a couple of minutes afterwards, spending the rest of the day in their homes. Indications for patients to be admitted to this unit are decided by the unit’s physicians.

Intensive Care Unit

  • Those patients are treated in our intensive care unit who need close observation on account of certain interventions (thrombolysis or stent placement in the carotid artery). Patients in severe conditions who need artificial ventilation are also treated at our unit. The primary patients of this unit are those with stroke, infections of the central nervous system accompanied by disturbances of consciousness, and hard-to-treat epilepsy patients.

Intensive Care Unit II.

Regularly scheduled treatments for neurology patients

  • Infusion therapy for ambulatory patients of the unit in certain neurological diseases. The infusion therapy may be recommended by the physicians of our clinic.

Day-care Ward

  • Infusion therapy for ambulatory patients of the unit in certain neurological diseases. Infusion therapy may be recommended by the physicians of our clinic.

Sleep diagnostics lab

  • The sleep laboratory is suitable for examining sleep disorders, primarily sleep apnea, when breathless episodes last several seconds during pathological snoring as well as the involuntary movements during sleep and pathological hypersomnia. During the examination, blood oxygen saturation, ECG, pulse, longer cessation of breathing and its consequences are measured. As apnoea disturbs sleep and can be a risk factor for several cardiovascular diseases, it is important to recognize it and become familiar with it. Once the disease is diagnosed, pathological snoring can be treated.
