Ultrasound
FLAG (fluorescencein angiography) is a specific dying of the vessels by injecting a yellow dye into the artery of the arm and taking photographs of its flow in the fundus. This examination is indispensable for diagnosing certain diseases of the fundus.
Patients can visit the FLAG-, and Laser specialist outpatient clinic with an appointment every weekday, where two types of lasers are available:
Argon-laser and Nd:YAG-laser. The Argon-laser interventions can treat pathological fundus disorders (bleedings, angiogenic tissues). Thus the pathological process - and associated deterioration of vision - can be slowed down.
Nd:YAG-laser is used to treat adhesions and scars in the eyes and glaucoma.
The treatments are done in local anesthesia (eye drops) with pupil dilation. Due to the latter the vision can be blurred temporarily, but the condition does not last longer than a few hours.
