It is advisable for patients to bring toiletries for their own use and also personal items and clothes for the period of their hospitalization; patients receive a letter addressed to their place of residence informing them about what is needed before the surgery.
Nurses at the clinic work in 12 hour shifts, from 7 AM to 7 PM and then from 7 PM to 7 AM.

Patients cannot be visited at the ICU on the day of surgery. The first visitors are permitted is the day after the surgery.
Cardiac surgery might necessitate blood transfusion therefore patients and their relatives are notified that they may donate blood in advance for the patient.
On the day before the surgery patients may take part in a meeting where a member of the ward staff informs them about the rules of the ward, conditions of the surgery, rules of the ICU and the recovery process. All of the patients’ questions are answered at this time.
Discharge
On the 6th postoperative day follow-up examinations are done (blood test, ECG, chest X-ray, echocardiography). After the hospitalization at the cardiac surgery inpatient care unit patients may be transferred either home, or to a cardiology ward in their region for rehabilitation depending on their condition and their wishes. Before being discharged patients will be advised on their lifestyle and their medicinal treatment, they will receive their discharge summary from the attending doctor and their nursing discharge summary from their ward nurses.
Patients may leave for home with their relatives or with the Ambulance service.
