Neurology Clinic - Other information related to outpatient care

Patient admission, prescription

We receive acute patient by an appointment. Patient admission to the outpatient clinic, specialist consultations or diagnostic laboratories at +36 52 255 451 / extension 54467.

If the cerebral-circulatory disorder is mild or chronic, an infusion can be administered in the outpatient unit. Patients remain on the ward only to have the infusion administered, and afterwards, after a few more minutes’ rest they return home. Indication for admission to the ward is decided by the physicians of the clinic.

If you only need a prescription or a specialist recommendation, we upload to the so-called Electronic Healthcare Service / Elektronikus Egészségügyi Szolgáltatási Tér (EESZT). If you have any requests, you can indicate at the telephone number +36 52 255 451 or e-mail.

You can make an appointment by e-mail:  neurologiaelojegyzes@med.unideb.hu. You are requested to write your request shortly and indicate the name of the specialist consultation (we usually receive patients at the Neurology specialist consultation), the name of the patient, adress, the Hungarian Social Security card (TAJ card) and the telephone number. 

We kindly ask referring physicians to provide the suspected diagnosis and a short justification of the request when issuing an EMG/ENG referral, peripheral nerve ultrasound examination or motor evoked potential test.

Parkinson Centre: appointment on workdays between 3 PM - 4 PM at +36 52 411 717 / extension 54145.

Patients suffering from mild or chronic cerebrovascular diseases can also be administered infusion medications as outpatients. Patients undergoing such treatment will only stay in the hospital during the administration of the infusion; they can spend the rest of their day at home. The decision on the indication of admission is made by our clinicians. 

In case of STROKE SIGNS AND SYMPTOMS (sudden speech disturbances, hemiplegia, sudden facial asymmetry, diplopia) call the ambulance immediately! 

In neurological diseases requiring emergency examination the following symptoms are possible:

  • weakness and paralysis of one or more limbs (mostly painless)
  • speech comprehension, speech expression disorder
  • dysphagia and / or slurred speech that is difficult to understand
  • severe imbalance caused by gait disturbance
  • eyelid sagging, double vision, which disappears when one eye is closed
  • a newly occurring, definite facial asymmetry between the two halves of the face
  • unintentional, involuntary limb twitching associated with loss of consciousness
  • low back pain in the lower extremity with weakness of the legs or urinary incontinence
  • definite narrowing of the field of vision in both eyes
  • sudden severe headache, or headache that worsens in days, with behavioral problems, memory problems, or confusion

Patient groups where the patients may be in immediate danger or can have a severe or permanent health damage due to the lack of the therapy: 

  • Stroke 
  • Inflammation of the central nervous system (meningitis, encephalitis)
  • utoimmune diseases (Myasthenia gravis, Guillain-Barre syndrome, multiple sclerosis relapse)
  • Spinal cord laesio
  • Epilepsy
  • Parkinson crisis
  • Tumors of the central nervous system 
  • Nerve injuries requiring electrotherapy (eg facial nerve palsy, hand paralysis)
  • Disc herniation associated with limb weakness and urinary incontinence
  • Head and spinal injuries (mainly related to traumatology)
  • Sudden and unbearable headache
  • Acute (1-4 weeks) memory impairment

When you come to the Clinic:

  • You are requested to disinfect your hands when entering. 
  • In the waiting room keep a safe distance from each other. 
  • Using a face mask is a must! Please, hide your nose, too with your mask, not just your mouth.
