Internal Medicine Ward Block C - Introduction to Core Functions

This structural unit provides outpatient specialist consultation in the following fields: internal medicine, clinical immunology, angiology, geriatrics and cardiology. In accordance with the regional care obligation, the internal medicine practice primarily undertakes the general internal medicine examination of patients in Debrecen.

Immunology specialist consultation is provided for patients from the region (level 3 progressive care). The following diseases are covered by the clinic: non-differentiated autoimmune disease, systemic lupus erythematosus (SLE), Sjögren syndrome, systemic sclerosis (Scleroderma), polymyositis/dermatomyositis, antiphospholipid syndrome, mixed connective tissue disease (MCTD), systemic vasculitis, rheumatoid arthritis, recurrent pregnancy loss,  the immunology of pregnancy, congenital immune deficiencies, Raynaud syndrome.

Within the framework of outpatient care the centre functions as a biological therapy centre with special financing (itemized reimbursement) and issues intravenous immunoglobulin replacement for patients with congenital immune deficiency.

The angiology specialist consultation examines, treats and takes continuing care of patients with peripheral artery problems, treats the critical limb ischemia, provides thrombolytic treatment of acute limb ischemia and complex treatment of venous diseases, treats and provides continuing care of antiphospholipid syndrome, takes care of the group of inflammatory vasculopathies that affect the big vessels, and microcirculatory disorders. The angiologists work in close cooperation with Vascular Surgery and Interventional Radiology, to form a multidisciplinary team, where they consult about the angiology cases and define the method of definitive treatment for the patient. 

Geriatrics specialist consultation provides examination and continuing care for over-65 year olds.
