Cardiology - Patient flow to inpatient wards, internal transfer

Patients can be admitted with a doctor’s referral as is the local practice or on the basis of an appointment.

Placing the patient in the ward is the responsibility of the Head of Ward, who will assign the appropriate room and bed immediately. The nurse working at the ward takes the nursing anamnesis (medical history). Admission per se is done by the ward doctor. From a medical point of view the first step of admission is history taking. The doctor taking the patient’s history enters the data gained on present complaints, symptoms and results of a physical examination into a computer. The doctor also reviews previous reports, treatment files and test reports and then returns them to the patient.
