Admission/takeover of patients from cardiological, internal, intensive and emergency wards of the region is always done after pre-agreement by phone. During working hours it is the ward doctor, or the leading doctor of the specialist consultation who makes decisions on taking over patients During duty hours or at weekends and on bank holidays the anesthesiologist on duty will notify the heart surgeon on call about the referral or arrival of an acute patient. Admission of acute care patients follows the same procedure as that of patients coming for elective heart surgeries.
