3. Types of medical care and services

In line with progressive patient care, our outpatient department does not only perform examinations but also provides regular medical care mainly for patients from different parts of the region suffering from asthma, COPD, sarcoidosis and cancer.

The Bronchoscopy Laboratory of our Clinic is available both for outpatient and inpatient care. Additionally, we perform examinations at other clinics, intensive care units and operating rooms as part of consultations. The examinations are done based on appointment or part of emergency care if needed.

During diagnostic bronchoscopy we collect different cytology, histology and bacteriology samples from the respiratory tract and the lungs. To detect the abnormalities that are not visible in the bronchial system, we use X-ray screening or transthoracic needle biopsy.

The aim of therapeutic bronchoscopy is to provide an endoscopic solution for the treatment of certain diseases, for example, rigid bronchoscopic dilation of airway stenosis, laser treatment of tumors causing airway stenosis, and the removal of foreign bodies from the airways.

Our allergology department provides diagnosis and modern treatment as well as medical care to patients suffering from respiratory diseases, including allergic rhinitis, bronchial asthma, extrinsic allergic alveolitis, allergic bronchopulmonary aspergillosis, and bee and wasp stings allergy. Once a week we also treat adult patients with cystic fibrosis. In addition, the outpatient department diagnoses, treats and provides care for patients with sarcoidosis and interstitial lung disease (fibrosis), and, if needed, selects and prepares patients for lung transplantation.

4. Data related to patient care

Medical treatment and care is provided by specialists, clinical physicians, residents, as well as nursing assistants, licensed nurses, registered nurses and physiotherapists with a college degree. Our Clinic treats pulmonary and pulmonary oncology patients on 108 active beds. We provide pulmonary rehabilitation care on 15 beds, and we also provide specialty care at our outpatient department specialized in pulmonology, oncology, rehabilitation, allergology and sarcoidosis. In these outpatient departments our patients are attended to every weekday by physicians with multiple specialty certifications.

With a growth in the number of respiratory diseases, the number of our patients has also increased over the past years, and the number of lung cancer patients is also growing (at present 60% of our patients suffer from this disease).
