Obligations of the patient

When using a healthcare service, the patient shall respect and observe the legal rules relating thereto and the institutional order of the healthcare provider.

If allowed by their state of health, patients shall cooperate with the healthcare workers involved in their care according to their abilities and knowledge, in line with the following:

  • Inform them of all details necessary for a diagnosis, the preparation of an adequate treatment plan and for carrying out the required interventions, in particular, of the history of illnesses, medical treatment, medicinal drug use or use of paramedicines, and their health damaging risk factors.
  • Inform them of every detail in connection with their illness which may endanger the lives or physical safety of others, in particular, of any communicable diseases, and of illnesses and conditions disqualifying them from pursuing an occupation.
  • In case of communicable diseases set forth in the relevant decree of the Minister of Health, name the persons from whom they may have contracted the communicable disease and whom they may have infected.
  • Inform them of all former legal statements that they might have made in connection with healthcare.
  • Comply with the instructions received from them in connection with the medical treatment.
  • Observe the house rules of the healthcare institution.
  • Make the payment as provided for by law or stated by the healthcare provider based on law.
  • Show credible proof of their personal data as required by law.

In the course of exercising their rights, the patients and their relatives shall respect the rights of other patients.

  • The exercise of the rights of a patient and relatives may not violate the rights of healthcare professionals and fellow patients as stipulated by law.
  • The means of exercising patient’s rights shall be regulated by the house rules of the healthcare provider (institution), within the limitations of this Act, including the issue of medical records as well.

We call the attention of our patients that:

  • All healthcare professionals (physician, assistant, triage officer) shall be qualified as persons performing public duties during.
  • Any person who commits violence against a person performing public duties shall be penalized with imprisonment of 1-8 years.
  • Any person who displays an apparently anti-social and violent conduct suitable to incite indignation or fear in other people, is guilty of a misdemeanor punishable by imprisonment for up to two years.
  • Any person who engages in the written or oral expression of anything that is injurious to the reputation of another person, or uses an expression directly referring to such a fact, is guilty of a misdemeanour punishable by imprisonment for up to one year.
