Surgery Clinic - Ward rounds

Morning ward round: The ward doctor, the head nurse of the unit, and the ward nurse take part in the round conducted by the Head of Ward, 7:30 AM – 7:45 AM on weekdays. If the Head of Ward is unable to attend, the ward doctor may make the round and then he/she will report back to the Head of Ward. The Head of Ward collects information on events during duty hours, and based on the examination of patients orders necessary examinations, interventions, preparations for surgeries the following day, planned discharges for the day and decides about the assignment of beds for patients scheduled for surgery

Afternoon round: Weekday afternoons 2 PM – 3 PM according to the Head of Ward’s instructions, with the Head of Ward, ward doctor and ward nurse taking part. Together they assess the day’s test results and based on their assessment implement any necessary modifications.  

Professor’s visit: At the wards of the clinic at the time set by the professor usually at 7:30 in the morning-in daily rotation, with the director of the clinic (or his designee if the director is otherwise engaged), the Heads of Wards responsible for each unit, ward doctors, head nurses of the units and wardnurses taking part.

Duty round: The duty team starts checking the condition of patients at 6 PM and takes all necessary steps. All Heads of Wards make a round or ensure a round is made at their own ward at weekends during the morning hours.
