Patients waiting for elective surgeries usually are admitted on the day before the intervention.
Open vascular surgeries are performed on the arteries of the lower and upper extremities and neck, as well as on the abdominal aorta. We also perform hybrid surgeries, whereby we perform balloon dilatation and stenting in an open vascular surgery. Abdominal aortic aneurysm (a bulging, weak spot in the aorta) surgery can be done through a catheter if indicated to avoid open repair.
Patients scheduled for varicose vein surgery and shunt surgeries as a preparation for dialysis are typically admitted to the inpatient ward in the morning of the intervention. The time of hospitalization and surgery is agreed upon by the attending doctor, the patients and their families.
After major surgeries patients are taken to the ICU and then as agreed with ICU doctors returned to the ward.
