Introduction - Assisted Reproduction Centre

Dear Visitors,

Welcome to the website of the Assisted Reproduction Centre (ARC) at the University of Debrecen Cinical Centre.

Examination and treatment of infertility done in the form of "in vitro" fertilization (IVF) procedures, also known as the "test-tube baby" programme, has a history of more than three decades at the University of Debrecen. In the beginning, these interventions were performed by the Infertility Workgroup of the Gynecology and Obstetrics Clinics, then in 2003 a contracted private service provider with extended capacities took over these services, and continued to carry out IVF treatments in the framework of an institute for 15 years.

Since January 2018, the Assisted Reproduction Centre directly managed by the Clinical Centre has been operating as a separate unit employing 3 specialists and a highly qualified and experienced staff, who make real use of the internationally renowned diagnostic and scientific capacaty of the university.

At the end of the year 2019, the government extended the support of assisted reproductive interventions significantly: the examination and treatment of infertility was made practically free of charge, and the service was concentrated in accredited fertility centres so that infertile couples can have access to the best possible professional services and the least demanding methods for these women to conceive as rapidly and successfully as possible.

Thanks to the several billion development supported by the government and realized in the form of instrument procurement, in 2018 the University of Debrecen created a state-of-the-art Ebryology and Andrology Lab, which highly facilitates the services provided by the Assisted Reproduction Centre, and helps meet the demands of infertile couples. No success can be achieved without appropriate human resources, continuous improvement of professional knowledge and skills, or empathetic and friendly support provided to patients; not even modern technology can substitute for these.

Even though the management of the Centre has changed since then, our main goal - the preservation and further development of this principle - remains unchained. The knowledge of national and international guidelines, use of the results of evidence-based medicine in everyday practice, as well as the application of new and personalized treatment protocols and continuous quality control help us achieve increasingly successful results in making infertile couples' biggest dream come true, and bring full satisfaction to our patients.

We look forward to meeting you.
