Neurology
  • General neurology covers the medical examination and treatment of headaches, dizziness, multiple sclerosis, Parkinson’s disease, diseases accompanied by dementia, infections of the central nervous system, diseases of the spinal cord and nerve roots. Although neurology is also increasingly specialized, the examination and treatment of stroke and sleep disorders continue to be inseparable from neurology as are neurosonology and clinical neurophysiology as diagnostic activities.

Clinical Neurophysiology

  • Clinical neurophysiology has become a separate discipline that deals with epilepsy, neuromuscular diseases (polyneuropathia, myasthenia gravis, as well as other diseases affecting muscles and nerves).

Vascular Neurology

  • A cardinal part of neurology involves vascular neurology, within which the examination and treatment of stroke (the type that occurs in the small blood vessels in the brain and the one caused by blockage of an artery) are carried out. A separate license examination can be obtained in this field.

Neurosonology

  • A separate license is necessary to practice neurosonological methods of examination (examining the carotid arteries and the blood vessels in the brain).

Sleep Medicine

  • Similarly to the other areas, a separate certificate has been introduced for the examination and treatment of diseases related to sleep medicine (sleeping disorders, pathological snoring, and sleep-related movement disorders).
