Acute patient admission from the Cardiology, Internal Medicine, Intensive care and Emergency departments of the region is upon prior telephone consultation. On workdays the ward physician or the physician of the specialist consultation make a decision about the patient admission. On duty hours, at weekends and on holidays the anesthesiology informs the standby cardiac surgeon about the arrival of an acute patient. Acute patient admission is done in the same way as those patients who wait for the planned cardiac surgery.
