This unit now operates on the ground floor of the Psychiatry Division with 20 beds. Admission starts with a request submitted by the patient in advance. The admission of patients in need of care is based on a written agreement concluded in advance with the patient or his/her relative. Admission is finalized based on appointment and depending on the availability of beds. We provide care for elderly patients who do not require acute psychiatric treatment or examination but for some reason they cannot be cared for at home. We receive patients with decreased intellectual capabilities and dementia.

Our general unit operates with 52 hospital beds in two separate sections. The functions of patient care include the admission of pre-scheduled patients, further therapy of patients transferred from the acute medical unit treatment of patients arriving from urgent care (patients who can be placed in an acute unit), and the treatment of patients who have been transferred to this unit from other units following consultation. Our unit works as a general unit, particularly with patients with mood disorders and patients in crises. In addition to adjusting the medication dose, the healing process includes individual, small and large group psychotherapeutic activities after a thorough examination. To complement treatment, our unit uses physiotherapy as well. A social worker helps our patients in finding solutions to social problems.

At present, our male acute unit operates on the second floor of the Psychiatry Division with 30 hospital beds. In our healing work we use methods involving modern medicines (pharmacotherapy) complete with creative activities. The main aim of our unit’s activities is to terminate endangering conditions and make further therapeutic options available to our patients.
At present our unit operates on the second floor of the Psychiatry Division with 38 hospital beds. We were the first in Hungary to use such innovative procedures in the treatment of our patients as transcranial magnetic stimulation and ketamin infusion treatment. We have a diverse profile, working to provide care for the following psychiatric disorders: depression, anxiety disorders, crisis situations, schizophrenia, and bipolar affective disorder. Patient guidance is provided in the form of individual and group psychotherapy. Pharmacological therapy is complemented by diverse group activities such as sociotherapy, art therapy, and movement therapy. We participate in practical and theoretical education activities in both English and Hungarian at the Faculty of Medicine at the University of Debrecen.

At present our Addictology Unit operates on the third floor of the Psychiatry Division with 30 hospital beds.
Operation of the unit: Patients with addictions (alcohol, drug, gambling) can be admitted to the unit after a pre-scheduled appointment through specialist consultation; Alternatively, they can be admitted to the unit from other departments of our hospital through specialist consultation following previous psychiatric consultation. At our unit patients can receive one of two types of therapy: 1. detox(ification) – duration: 2-3 weeks; 2. personality-development rehabilitation program, in which the patient receives both group and individual therapy. It works in close cooperation with the self-help group AA/Alcoholics Anonymous. Duration: 3.5 -4 months.
At present our rehabilitation unit operates on the third floor of the Psychiatry Division with 39 hospital beds. We facilitate the re-socialization of patients with chronic psychiatric diseases. In addition to optimal medicine adjustment, patients are given patterns for the structuring and useful spending of days. Tools at our disposal include large group discussions (a forum-like conversation), workshops with work therapy and creative therapy, physiotherapy, literature groups, and walking together. In order to increase the sense of individual responsibility, patients’ active participation is expected in cleaning their rooms and keeping them tidy.

The Daytime Hospital operates with 58 hospital beds. In particular cases aided by the hospital’s social group and following an official request as well as our patients’ requests, and with the participation of the family support services, the family doctor, and representatives of the local government, we participate case conferences. By involving the social services we are able to improve our patient’s quality of life and provide them with support and protection in their vulnerable situation.
Self-help programs: the Association for the Protection of Patients’ Rights (SZIBÉSZ), and the Association for the Protection of Relatives’ Rights (KÉSZ) regularly organize meetings, hold office hours, and provide self-help groups and clubs in our unit. In relation to certain issues or in connection with grant applications representatives of the profession, patients and relatives often carry on a “trialogue”. Complex socio- psychotherapy programs: Sociotherapiea including Occupational therapies (we build on the healing potential hidden in human relations organized around work), arts and crafts groups, art therapy group, active fine art therapy groups, music therapy as passive art therapy, movement group, psycho-education, group for life management skills, sports programs, community programs; services provided for the hospital: receptionist at the adult psychiatry division, librarian, medical record archiving, patient transport services.
Psychotherapy programs: assertiveness training group, verbal small group, film group, animal-assisted therapy (AAA, AAT), drama group, literature group, Bible group, individual therapy, and family therapy.
