Neurosurgery Clinic - Patient flow to inpatient wards, internal transfer

Patients scheduled for inpatient care are admitted at the nurses’ station on the first floor.

To admit a patient the following documents are needed:

  • health insurance card (‘TAJ’ card)
  • referral (outpatient file or previous discharge summary)
  • previous discharge summaries, test reports

All patients admitted to hospital are provided with a patient ID wristband. These are plastic bands around the wrist with a snap closure onto which the patient’s initials, the ward name and the patients’ registration number are written in permanent ink. This wristband must not be removed during the hospital stay.

After receiving the ID wristband patients sit in the waiting room in the aisle until assigned a bed, or if there is a bed available, patients will be shown to it and there can change into a hospital gown and wait.

When patients are placed in the ward, the ward nurse informs them about the policy of the institute, the rules and routine of the ward and shows them the policy that is posted in the ward. Civilian clothes should be put into a personal locker.

It is not advisable to bring along substantial amounts of money, valuables, or a savings account etc. If it cannot be avoided, such valuables should be handed over to the head nurse of the ward for safekeeping.

The Institute is only liable for objects placed in the safe-deposit. The Institute cannot be made liable for personal items left in the ward.

Patients admitted to a ward, are requested to bring with them only absolutely necessary personal utensils:

All patients are to use the equipment and appliances of the ward for the purpose for which they are designed and are expected to protect their condition.  When leaving the hospital they should return items that belong to the institute to the ward nurse (such as,   TV-set remote control).

Hungarian and foreign nationals who are not covered by health insurance pay a fee set by the institute. The fee is payable before leaving the hospital at the latest.
