Depending on the disease and its severity patients suffering from different neurological conditions requiring inpatient care are hospitalized either in the Intensive Care Unit of a specialty (Recovery suite) or the Male/Female inpatient wards. Within the male/female wards there are Stroke and General Neurology Units.
Inpatients may have to undergo various examinations during their hospitalization, including CT, MRI, ultrasound, X-ray, Doppler test, nerve conduction test, muscle activity test, cerebrospinal fluid draw, cardiologic, or general medical examinations. Due to the nature of neurological diseases several patients may be disabled, and therefore in need of being helped by nurses and orderlies with getting to the location of the examination, or washing, dressing, eating. Depending on the disease physiotherapy (gymnastics, ultrasound treatment, etc.) or speech therapy may also be needed.
