Pediatric surgery is available at Pavilion 1 both during working hours and in duty time.
All children scheduled for elective surgery are assessed by the anesthesiologist in the morning the day before the surgery to determine any risk factors of the surgery and to screen out children not eligible for surgery. If the child is eligible for surgery, they are hospitalized.
Depending on the type of surgery blood may be drawn for lab tests, to define the blood group, and to ensure availability of blood. These tests are not mandatory and are only done when requested by the pediatric surgeon and the anesthesiologist based on their joint decision. Prior to surgeries on body cavities purging may be requested as part of the preoperative preparations.
Surgeries are scheduled on workdays from 8 AM until the end of the day’s schedule.
Visitors are not allowed into pavilion 1 during surgeries.
